Regular Academic Program
The majority of students with learning exceptionalities, at Aquinas, will be registered in our regular academic program. It is important to note that Resource students:
Take the same classes as everyone else.
Do the same work as everyone else.
Meet the same high standards for subject achievement,
as all of the rest of their high school peers.
What makes our resource students exceptional, is that they have access to a dedicated support system only offered to the student who is supported by an IEP, or who is progressing toward exceptionality.
Those supports include:
Resource Case Managers
Access to the Resource Room
Annual Review of Progress at IPRC's.
Learning Strategies Courses
Assistive Technology Access
Etc.
Regular program resource students, at Aquinas, are working toward graduation with a high school diploma. Many pursue further post-secondary plans for university, college, apprenticeships, the workforce, and/or the military.
Having a learning exceptionality,
does NOT close doors on future post-secondary options!
Universities and colleges also recognize the need to accommodate for the specialized learning profile of the exceptional student.
We, at Aquinas, match our provision of support with those supports that will be offered in post-secondary environments.
